After the unexpected success of Pipo X7, the Chinese company has launched a new variant that dual boots between Windows 8.1 and Android operating system. Pipo X7S is on sale for the price of around 120 euro.

Pipo X7s review

Pipo X7S comes with a quad-core Intel Atom Z3736F (Bay Trail), 2GB of RAM, 32 GB eMMC storage, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and Ethernet 10/100. It has four USB 2.0 ports, a slot for micro SD cards, an HDMI output and a headphone jack.

The Pipo X7s comes dressed in gold color which makes it look different from the X7. Logos and buttons are still silver in color. There is a ventilation grill on it which is essential for heat dissipation inside the Mini PC fanless like this. Pipo W5 review.

It is on sale for 120 euro on geekbuying which have also posted unboxing video above. It runs windows 8 with Bing OS which also comes with free one year subscription of Office 365.

Advantages of Windows Phone over Android and iOS

The luxuries of Windows Phones are far often overlooked. It’s literally the simple things that make it my preferred platform.

1. ***Dedicated camera shutter button for a photo lovers like myself.*** I literally cannot live without this feature! Not a Windows Phone exclusive, but we are practically the only platform who have stressed the need for this indispensable feature.

2. ***Optic Image Stabilization.*** We’ve had this since 2012 back in the Lumia 920 days. Welcome to the party iPhone 6 and Galaxy S6, you are 3 years late.

3. ***PureMotion HD+ (Nokia Specific).*** Rich colors. DEEPER blacks. Consistent frame rate when scrolling. Compatibility with gloves. These are very rich features that adds to the overall “smoothness” of the OS. I cannot stand a jittery screen and with Android you are literally hit or miss. Not saying every Android phone is bad but Nokia wins here in quality!

4. ***Business Listings with Bing.*** I love being able to search for a business, then tap on it in the search result and get EVERYTHING i need to know about that business. Phone number, address coordinates, menu, hours of operation, etc. Oh and did I mention I’ve already gotten enough Bing Rewards points for $20 worth of Amazon gift cards and $10 worth of Burger King. Nice little perk of owning a phone that runs Bing natively.

5. ***People Hub*** – Even though they killed off Facebook integration (where you didn’t need to open app to interact) the People Hub is still one of my favorite exclusive WP features. Mostly because it concatenates all your social hubs together in one. I really wish they didn’t get rid of the integration, but for pushing app updates I can understand why they went the route they did.

6. ***Pivot + Panorama style apps*** Screw the hamburger menu. Swiping between menu choices with your finger is far easier to use especially considering a lot of use our phone one handed. MS needs to get its head out of its ass and stop trying to mimic Android. The closer to Android you try to become the lesser reason people will have to switch because you don’t DIFFERENTIATE yourselves from other platforms.

7. ***Vertically scrolling home screen*** I’ve always loved the start/home screen on Windows Phone. You know you have a top and a bottom. Not to mention we are the only platform that supports this layout. It just makes sense!

8. ***Live Tiles*** – Whats makes live tiles great is they run under relatively low memory footprint and consume minimal battery while providing you glanacable information to keep you updated in your life. Because these are built into Windows you don’t need to install a separate component on your phone. For every application in Android that you want to show detailed information you need a separate widget. These widgets can add up over time and tax the system. This is what leads to the Android “jank” as Chris Pirillo puts it leading to the laggy experience that people attribute to Android. Sure our live tiles may be dumbed down version of Widgets, but they work great.

So as you can see there’s a lot of love about Windows Phone even though you will occasionally see people on here crying about why snapchat isn’t available. Joe Belfiore is blantly aware that WP has low market penetration and say so in the U.S carrier market. People complain that we haven’t had a flagship in 2 years, but even if MS did make them they would not sell well because they don’t offer the best bang for buck being a commodity item. If I’m going to pay $600 for a phone, you have to weigh the pros and cons of the app ecosystem. In this case, WP will always lose. Windows Phone is trying to do what Android did to sweep iPhone under its feet. Penetrate the low end/developing markets to lure customers to its platform.

#Bottom line for me: I can’t live without a dedicated camera shutter button, a great camera, live tiles, and a fluid simple OS. Windows Phone fulfills that for me.

Softcard sending letter to customer base today

They’re sending this letter out to their customer base today:

“We are pleased to let you know that Google has acquired technology from Softcard to power the next generation of mobile wallets.

What does that mean for you? As of 3/31 your Softcard app will no longer work. You can continue to use the Softcard app until 3/31. After that your Account will be closed.”

Also if you read the FAQ that they attached to the email, it reads as if all the personal data you happen to have submitted or any data that Softcard has ever collected about your shopping habits? All gets transferred over to Google automatically without your consent as part of their deal. They will retain it for as long as they want to. There’s no way obvious way to delete any of it.

I find this to be so unbelievably insulting.

They are pleased to announce they got a pay day coming, and by the way, everyone of their customer on windows phone can just duck off?

Well I wish I have never subscribed to this service if I knew this is what would happen.
