Shuttle is a German brand well known for its mini PCs , fanless and especially (without fans).

However until now they had never raised the threat to your niche posed by NUC Intel, for example. Why Shuttle has now taught their smaller teams to date , the NC01U Series, all equipped with Intel Broadwell processors from Celeron to Core i7 range.

These new teams Shuttle are, as usual, barebones to which the user only has to add RAM and hard drive to be fully functional, ie, including motherboard, processor, power supply and all other components necessary completing a system.

Shuttle NC01U, NC01U3, NC01U5 review

The Shuttle NC01U initially come in four different models but all with the same form factor and same aesthetic and connectivity features. So we have models of small form factor and only 29 mm thick as ever include VESA to place them in the back of a monitor, which feature video outputs Mini DisplayPort, HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, audio stereo, USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and RS-232.

According to Shuttle, all models are able to reproduce content in Ultra HD resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels) at 60 Hz via mini DisplayPort, or the same resolution but at 30 Hz via HDMI.

Note that all models have space to install a hard drive and 2.5-inch SATA 3 interface, but also has a socket M.2 (although I come home occupied by a WiFi / Bluetooth combo module). As for RAM, it supports up to 16 GB on a single DDR3L SO-DIMM module format.

As for the versions available, only they vary in their processor (prices listed below are indicated as recommended by the manufacturer and are expressed without VAT).

Shuttle XPC NC01U nano with Intel Celeron 3205U processor and will cost 140 euros.
Shuttle XPC nano NC01U3 equipped with an Intel Core i3-5005U will cost 314 euros.
Shuttle XPC NC01U5 nano with an Intel Core i5-5200U whose price is 388 euros.
Shuttle XPC NC01U7 nano with an Intel Core i7-5500U and will cost 520 euros.

All teams except NC01U7 should hit stores this week, while the model equipped with Intel Core i7 processor will come a little later, in late October.
